Marmoset has posted a summary of the update on its website with images of key features like the Advanced Micro shader (shown above). Updated 29 September 2018: Toolbag 3.05 is now shipping. Other changes include new Roughness and Advanced Microsurface shaders to help recreate the way real-world surfaces reflect light – and, in related PBR shading news, Metalness/Roughness workflow is now enabled by default for new materials as opposed to the alternative Specular/Glossiness workflow.įor artists working outside games, there is also a new tonemapper compliant with the ACES standard for managing colour throughout film and broadcast production pipelines. In addition, maps are now multi-sampled, and there is a new 64x sampling option for better anti-aliasing. Other changes include the option to define the tangent space used when baking on a per-mesh basis rather than having a single setting for the scene and bake groups are now sorted alphabetically. Toolbag now supports custom cage geometry, including non-matching cages, while an improved cage offset algorithm should help prevent the cage collapsing in on itself when baking complex geometry. New features in Toolbag 3.05 include updates to the low-poly cage extended outwards from the high-poly asset when baking texture maps.

More options for handling cage geometry and tangent spaces during texture baking The update focuses primarily on Toolbag’s baking toolset, adding support for custom cage geometry and improved sampling for texture maps, plus new microsurface shaders and a new ACES-compliant tonemapper. Marmoset has released Toolbag 3.05, the latest version of its real-time rendering toolkit, in public beta. Scroll down for news of the official release.
